December Mystery Artist :
1. Born in Moscow on Dec. 4, 1866, this artist gave up his legal career to study, teach, create, and write about Art.  he is now considered on of the first artists to create "pure" abstract art.
2. His parents were both musicians so at an early age he learned to play the piano and zither.  Music played an important part in his life and art.
3. He felt colors were like instruments to create abstract creations.  For example, yellow appeared to him like the sound of a trumpet, black was silence, and red either a tuba or a violin.  His works were a symphony of colors and shapes.
