Happy Labor Day!!!!

Congratulations to Billy Burne (1st place), Shannon Simpson, and Yasmeen Obeid for placing in the Metra Poster Contest!!! Way to go!! Keep an eye out at your local metra station for Billy's artwork displayed and made into tickets sometime this year!

1st Grade-This week we will be learning how to use the Art Room. We will learn how to do Art duties. We will also start drawing basic shapes to create our very own Wild Thing Creatures. We will be focusing on the illustrator Maurice Sendak.
2nd Grade-What's a dot? We will be studying illustrator Peter H. Reynolds and his story of The Dot. Students will create colorful dots and then we'll learn about the story. Once they've heard the story, they will then transform their dots using their imaginations.
3rd Grade-Kaleidoscope Names- Students will learn about radial design and create their names in a Kaleidoscope pattern.
4th Grade-Picasso Portraits- Students will learn about Pablo Picasso and his style of Cubism. Students will create a Picasso Portrait.
5th Grade-American Gothic Parodies- Students will learn about the artist, Grant Wood and his style of Regionalism. Students will create their own parodies of American Gothic.

This first week back is an exciting week to hear all about everyones exciting summers! We will spend our Art time getting reacquainted with the rules and expectations of the classroom. Hopefully we will get ourselves prepared for our first project of the year!!!
