Kindergarten: Fall Texture
Students will begin learning about texture by studying leaves.  We will use leaves to discuss how they feel in our hands and what kinds of colors we have seen in leaves.  We will create a rubbing of leaves using crayons in hopes to create a Autumn picture using the warm and cool colors of leaves.

First Grade: Wild Things and Nez Perce' Woven Bags
Students have heard the story of, Where the Wild Things Art, by Maurice Sendak.  This week we will finish creating our own wild thing creatures while learning about shapes, texture and the joys of oil pastels!  Next project, we will begin studying Early Native Americans and their Cornhusk Woven Bags.

Second Grade: Prehistoric Rock Art
Students will begin learning about the earliest days of Art.  How prehistoric cultures created Art and why.  We will create our own Rock Art images creating a cave-like atmosphere in the room.  We will discuss the purpose of symbols and colors of paint pigment.

Third Grade:  Kaleidoscopes and Japanese Landscape
Following Kaleidoscope activity, students will begin prepping our papers for Japanese Landscapes.  We will be using chalk pastels and paints.

Fourth Grade: Picasso Portraits
We will begin learning about Pablo Picasso and his style of Cubism.  Students will be creating their own Cubist Portraits while learning about organic and geometric shapes.  We will also discuss complementary colors as we create bright and colorful works!
