Weekly Activities in the Art Room:
Kindergarten- Autumn Trees
We are celebrating Autumn with leaf rubbings and line drawings of trees.  Students enjoyed bringing the great outdoors inside while creating rubbing of leaves.  We talked about the colors of Autumn and how to use the side of our crayon to transfer the leaf image onto our paper---like magic!!!  Once the rubbings were done, we began using thick and thin lines to create our tree trunk and branches.

1st Grade- Nez Perce Woven Bags
Our Moody Monsters were a success!  Now we our focusing our attention on Native American Weavings.  We are learning about the Native American tribe of Nez Perce and their amazing woven bags.  We are learning to weave, how to use patterns and the joy of creating.

2nd Grade - Degas in Motion
We are beginning to learn about the French Impressionist Artist, Edgar Degas and his interest in studying movement in his artwork.  Student will begin creating their own image of a figure in motion. We will discuss horizon line, clues in art and the potential for movement in art.

    3rd Grade - Cityscape Landscape
Radial Design projects were amazing, students rocked it!   We are currently talking about various types of landscapes while using charcoal and chalk to create your landscape backgrounds.  Soon we will add geometric shapes along our horizon line to begin making our cityscape buildings.  Eventually we will create our own community.

4th Grade- Picasso Portraits
We are currently studying geometric and organic shapes to create our portraits.  We also learning about Picasso's Cubist style and how to relate it to our portraits.  Finally we will be discussing Complementary Colors and using them on our project.

5th Grade- American Gothic
We began creating our own parodies of American Gothic.  We learning about the famous artwork of Grant Wood and how his work illustrates the times and culture in midwestern America in the 1930s.
