 February Mystery Artist :
1. Born in Minneapolis on Nov. 26, 1922, this artist knew as early as Kindergarten that he wanted to be a cartoonist.
2. In 1949, he submitted some of his comic strips called "Li'l Folks," but the publishers insisted on calling them "Peanuts" since "Li'l Folks" was too similar to another comic strip.  The artist was very upset about it's new title.
3. On Oct. 2, 1950 this nutty comic made its debuts in seven newspapers.  The comic strips told the story and challenges of a wishy-washy boy, his beagle, and neighborhood friends.  Many of the challenges and failures of the characters were inspired by the artist's actual life.
