1st Grade- Modern Mona Lisa and Vincent van Gogh: We will complete our unit about the artist Leonardo Da Vinci and his famous painting, Mona Lisa. We will continue to add in color to our portraits. Some classes will be learning about the artist Vincent van Gogh and his vibrant sunflowers!
2nd Grade- Faith Ringgold Story Quilts: We continue learning about the African American female artist, Faith Ringgold. We will explore her experience with her story quilts!

3rd Grade- Egyptian Sphinx reliefs: We will begin and continue learning about Egyptian art. Students are learning about Egypt in their classrooms and we are going to carry that on in the Art room too! Students will be using clay to create their own relief of a Sphinx with 'Sphinx on Parade'!

4th Grade- Guatemalan Weaving and Printmaking : Students will continue studying Guatemala and their textile art. Students are warping thier looms and learning the weaving technique of tabby, basket weave, irregular basket weave, pull-ups and soumak. When they are not weaving, students will be learning about the printmaking process.

5th Grade- One point perspective: Students will be learning how to create block letters and the basic elements of one point perspective.

The loneliness of urban life was a subject explored by Edward Hopper. His Night Cafe' is a stark vision of an all-night diner on a city corner. Hopper's images all came from his imagination; none were actual locations.
Invent an imaginary place in a city where you would like to spend an evening. What is that place like?
