February 19 Metra Poster contest due to Miss Smeltzer
1st Grade- Action Jackson: We will begin learning about the artist Jackson Pollack. We will start by painting with string!
2nd Grade- Kandinsky Colors: We begin learning about Wassily Kandinsky. We will explore geometric shapes and primary colors.
3rd Grade- Wright Mansions: We will continue learning about architecture and local artist Frank Lloyd Wright! Students will begin creating their own facades of their dream mansion.
4th Grade- Aboriginal Art: We will be creating our own Aboriginal creatures using story art or x-ray art. Students will begin collaging their images.
5th Grade-DaVinci 's Zoomorphic self portraits:Students will be learning about the artist Leonardo DaVinci and his theories of an Ideal Face. Students will use those theories to create their own self portrait with an animal twist!
Art Folder 13Directions: Answer the questions below in at least 3 complete sentences.Some works of ar are inspired by literature. A sculpture of a mermaid sunning herself on a rock was inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale. The statue was created in 1913 by Edvard Eriksen for Copenhagen harbor in Denmark.
If you could create a work of art based on a favorite book or story, what literary work would be your inspiration?
Art Folder 14Cubism is a style of art in which the artist breaks the rules of realistic art by using flat shapes and showing more than on perspective (point of view) at the same time in their work.Collage is the art technique of pasting a variety of materials to a background. Pablo Picasso used the technique over eighty years ago.
Directions: Your assignment is to select a photograph (newspaper, magazine, old photo, etc.) and turn it into a Cubist composition. Using scissors, cut the photograph into pieces, (Be careful not to make them too small!). Once you have cut the photograph into pieces, rearrange the pieces and paste the picture together in a new order.
