We have learned about different ways we can show good character in our everyday lives. For example, turning in a lost wallet, doing our homework and chores, sharing, being responsible for our own actions, and many more. With this in mind, your art assignment involves putting Character Counts into action in a comic strip. Your assignment is to crate a comic strip that follows the theme of Character Counts. Your comic strip may use as many panels (frames) to illustrate your idea of good character. Your comic strip should shoe how someone uses good character. Please use color and label which pillar(s) you're showing. Remember, I only ask that you do YOUR best!

Directions: Using visual texture, create different patterns in each of the shapes below.
What is the difference between texture and pattern? Texture is the way something feels or appears to feel. Patterns usually create visual texture, but texture may not be seen as pattern all the time. When texture is decorative, repetitive, and evenly spaced over an area, we are more likely to call it a pattern.

19: You have just been hired by a record company to design the CD cover of your favorite band! Your assignment is to create a CD cover that promotes this group. Remember to include the name of the group, title of the CD, and any other important information the consumer might need. Please use color! ***note this is a school assignment so please make sure the band/singer you choose is appropriate for school.
20: Create five different textures. Texture is the way something feels or appears to feel in an artwork. Texture refers to the surface quality --how smooth or rough, flat or bumpy. In the world there are all kinds of texture. Actual texture in art is associated with sculpture, architecture, and other crafts. Actual texture is the texture you can touch and feel with your hands. Visual texture is creating the illusion of texture. For example, in a painting a bowl of apples on a wooden table...the artist would creat a smooth apple and fruit and illustrat the grooves in the wooden table.

Commercials, advertisements, and media coverage are already being planned for the upcoming 2016 Summer Olympic games. Chicago is one of the cities trying to earn the privilege to be the host of the 2016 summer games. The Olympics is a time for athletes all over the world to come together and show their pride in their country as well as the hard work they put into their sport. As such coverage occurs leading up to and during these events; we will become more familiar with the athletes, events, countries, and the sponsoring city. The Summer Olympics would give Chicago, Illinois the opportunity to welcome new people who are visiting and/or participating in the Olympics to see the beauty of the Chicagoland area and show them what makes Chicago so special.
Your assignment is to design a postcard for the upcoming 2016 Summer Olympics if they are possibly held in Chicago. Your design can focus on the events, athletes, and countries involved in the Olympics. It can also represent what makes Chicago and/or the United States so special to you. Please use color!
